Fluorocarbon (FKM / FPM)

Fluorocarbon (FKM/FPM): High-Performance Rubber for Extreme Conditions

Fluorocarbon (FKM/FPM) is a highly versatile and high-performance rubber composed of a copolymer with highly fluorinated hydrocarbons. Known for its superior properties, FKM demonstrates excellent resistance to high temperatures, fuel oils, hydraulic oils, ozone, various chemical media, and aging. These characteristics make it a popular choice for demanding industrial and automotive applications where durability and reliability are essential.

The material typically contains 66% fluorine, which enhances its chemical stability and performance. FKM operates efficiently within a temperature range of -25°C to 200°C for long-term applications and can endure instantaneous peaks of up to 250°C, though prolonged exposure at such extreme temperatures may reduce its lifespan.

Despite its robust properties, FKM has limitations, particularly when exposed to polar solvents like MEK, acetone, and ethyl acetate, where its stability decreases. Nonetheless, FKM remains a trusted material for sealing and other critical components in challenging environments.
